The FAO Food Price Index of the month of May 2021 reached the 128.1 points, which meant an increase of 4.91% in relation to previous mensual index of April, that was 122.1 points (+6 pts), and was placed a 1.88% above the annual average of 125.73 points recorded (+2.37 pts).
The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 135.3 points was 5.62% higgher than the selected month (+7.2 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 113.5, that is 12.86% lower than the 128.1 points of May 2021 (-14.6 pts).
In relation to the values of the previous year, in May 2021 there was a year-on-year increase of 40.61%, 37 points above the 91.1 pts reached in the same month of 2020.
