The FAO Food Price Index of the month of September 2008 reached the 112.8 points, which meant a decline of -6.85% in relation to previous mensual index of August, that was 121.1 points (-8.3 pts), and was placed a -4.01% under the annual average of 117.51 points recorded (-4.71 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 132.5 points was 17.46% higgher than the selected month (+19.7 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 86, that is 31.16% lower than the 112.8 points of September 2008 (-26.8 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in September 2008 there was a year-on-year increase of 7.43%, 7.8 points above the 105 pts reached in the same month of 2007.
