The FAO Food Price Index of the month of October 2008 reached the 97.6 points, which meant a decline of -13.48% in relation to previous mensual index of September, that was 112.8 points (-15.2 pts), and was placed a -16.94% under the annual average of 117.51 points recorded (-19.91 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 132.5 points was 35.76% higgher than the selected month (+34.9 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 86, that is 13.49% lower than the 97.6 points of October 2008 (-11.6 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in October 2008 there was a year-on-year decline of -9.29%, 10 points under the 107.6 pts reached in the same month of 2007.
