The FAO Food Price Index of the month of March 2004 reached the 66.7 points, which meant an increase of 2.62% in relation to previous mensual index of February, that was 65 points (+1.7 pts), and was placed a 1.73% above the annual average of 65.57 points recorded (+1.13 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 67.3 points was 0.9% higgher than the selected month (+0.6 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 64.3, that is 3.73% lower than the 66.7 points of March 2004 (-2.4 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in March 2004 there was a year-on-year increase of 20.18%, 11.2 points above the 55.5 pts reached in the same month of 2003.
