The FAO Food Price Index of the month of April 2004 reached the 67.3 points, which meant an increase of 0.9% in relation to previous mensual index of March, that was 66.7 points (+0.6 pts), and was placed a 2.64% above the annual average of 65.57 points recorded (+1.73 pts).

The record of this month was the highest value achieved throughout the year, with a difference of 4.67% above the lowest monthly value , that was 64.3 points (-3 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in April 2004 there was a year-on-year increase of 21.04%, 11.7 points above the 55.6 pts reached in the same month of 2003.
