The FAO Sugar Price Index of the month of January 2017 reached the 125.8 points, which meant an increase of 9.87% in relation to previous mensual index of December UNDEF(of) 2016, that was 114.5 points (+11.3 pts), and was placed a 26.94% above the annual average of 99.1 points recorded (+26.7 pts).

The record of this month was the highest value achieved throughout the year, with a difference of 46.28% above the lowest monthly value , that was 86 points (-39.8 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in January 2017 there was a year-on-year increase of 44.76%, 38.9 points above the 86.9 pts reached in the same month of 2016.
