The FAO Sugar Price Index of the month of April 2008 reached the 77.7 points, which meant a decline of -4.9% in relation to previous mensual index of March, that was 81.7 points (-4 pts), and was placed a -1.87% under the annual average of 79.18 points recorded (-1.48 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 90.4 points was 16.34% higgher than the selected month (+12.7 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 72.7, that is 6.88% lower than the 77.7 points of April 2008 (-5 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in April 2008 there was a year-on-year increase of 29.07%, 17.5 points above the 60.2 pts reached in the same month of 2007.
