The FAO Sugar Price Index of the month of March 2005 reached the 55 points, which meant a decline of -2.31% in relation to previous mensual index of February, that was 56.3 points (-1.3 pts), and was placed a -10.13% under the annual average of 61.2 points recorded (-6.2 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 82.6 points was 50.18% higgher than the selected month (+27.6 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 53.1, that is 3.58% lower than the 55 points of March 2005 (-1.9 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in March 2005 there was a year-on-year increase of 37.5%, 15 points above the 40 pts reached in the same month of 2004.
