The FAO Sugar Price Index of the month of December 2005 reached the 82.6 points, which meant an increase of 17.33% in relation to previous mensual index of November, that was 70.4 points (+12.2 pts), and was placed a 34.97% above the annual average of 61.2 points recorded (+21.4 pts).

The record of this month was the highest value achieved throughout the year, with a difference of 55.56% above the lowest monthly value , that was 53.1 points (-29.5 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in December 2005 there was a year-on-year increase of 61.96%, 31.6 points above the 51 pts reached in the same month of 2004.
