The FAO Vegetable Oil Price Index of the month of October 2008 reached the 92.21 points, which meant a decline of -23.53% in relation to previous mensual index of September, that was 120.59 points (-28.38 pts), and was placed a -34.64% under the annual average of 141.07 points recorded (-48.86 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 178.32 points was 93.38% higgher than the selected month (+86.11 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 78.55, that is 17.39% lower than the 92.21 points of October 2008 (-13.66 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in October 2008 there was a year-on-year decline of -26.73%, 33.64 points under the 125.85 pts reached in the same month of 2007.
