The FAO Cereal Price Index of the month of October 2006 reached the 79.9 points, which meant an increase of 10.21% in relation to previous mensual index of September, that was 72.5 points (+7.4 pts), and was placed a 12.18% above the annual average of 71.23 points recorded (+8.68 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 85.4 points was 6.88% higgher than the selected month (+5.5 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 62.7, that is 27.43% lower than the 79.9 points of October 2006 (-17.2 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in October 2006 there was a year-on-year increase of 28.66%, 17.8 points above the 62.1 pts reached in the same month of 2005.
