The FAO Meat Price Index of the month of March 2002 reached the 59.1 points, which meant an increase of 4.42% in relation to previous mensual index of February, that was 56.6 points (+2.5 pts), and was placed a 7.13% above the annual average of 55.17 points recorded (+3.93 pts).

The record of this month was the highest value achieved throughout the year, with a difference of 15.66% above the lowest monthly value , that was 51.1 points (-8 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in March 2002 there was a year-on-year decline of -7.08%, 4.5 points under the 63.6 pts reached in the same month of 2001.
