The FAO Food Price Index of the month of August 2000 reached the 53.2 points, which meant a decline of -1.48% in relation to previous mensual index of July, that was 54 points (-0.8 pts), and was placed a -0.23% under the annual average of 53.33 points recorded (-0.13 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 54.4 points was 2.26% higgher than the selected month (+1.2 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 52.3, that is 1.72% lower than the 53.2 points of August 2000 (-0.9 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in August 2000 there was a year-on-year decline of -2.21%, 1.2 points under the 54.4 pts reached in the same month of 1999.
