The FAO Food Price Index of the month of January 2009 reached the 86.4 points, which meant a increase of 0.47% in relation to previous mensual index of December UNDEF(of) 2008, that was 86 points (+0.4 pts), and was placed a -5.74% under the annual average of 91.66 points recorded (-5.26 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 100.7 points was 16.55% higgher than the selected month (+14.3 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 84, that is 2.86% lower than the 86.4 points of January 2009 (-2.4 pts).
