The origin middle value of Albacore along year 2009 reached the 4.808 euros per kilogram. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 7.7€/kg, while the lowest descended to the 2.38€/kg.
Wholesale Prices
Regarding the wholesale average, this reached the 6.571 euros per kilogram. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 8.17€/kg, while the lowest descended to the 5€/kg.
Retail Prices
Regarding the retail average, this reached the 10.579 euros per kilogram. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 11.28€/kg, while the lowest descended to the 9.55€/kg.

Price Index Origin-Retail. This is the number of times the price is multiplied from what the producer receives to what the consumer pays (origin and retail)
The averaged retail price of Albacore throughout the year 2009 was 10.58€/kg. On the other hand, the average of the prices at origin was 4.81 euros per kilogram. That means, for each euro paid by the final consumers to acquire this product, the fishers received 45.5 eurocents.
As regards Distribution, the average of the prices collected by Mercasa that year stood at 6.571 euros, so that the second link in the agri-food chain was responsible of 16.7 cents in the construction of that euro paid in the shop to buy albacores.
In last place, during the marketing phase there was added the 37.9 cents remaning of the euro paid by the final buyer. In percentage terms, the difference between the average annual price of albacore in origin and retail was of 120.03%.
The Price Index Origin-Retail for albacore throughout the year 2009 was of (x)2.2. This PIOR indicates the number by which the price is multiplied from the fish auction to the consumer's table, the difference between what we pay for food in the store and the price the fisher sold it for.
