The FAO Food Price Index of the month of November 1996 reached the 72.5 points, which meant a decline of -2.16% in relation to previous mensual index of October, that was 74.1 points (-1.6 pts), and was placed a -6.63% under the annual average of 77.65 points recorded (-5.15 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 82.4 points was 13.66% higgher than the selected month (+9.9 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 71.4, that is 1.54% lower than the 72.5 points of November 1996 (-1.1 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in November 1996 there was a year-on-year decline of -9.15%, 7.3 points under the 79.8 pts reached in the same month of 1995.
