The origin middle value of Italian Green Pepper along year 2013 reached the 0.73 euros per kilogram. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 1.51€/kg, while the lowest descended to the 0.39€/kg.
The average of 2013 was 0.07€ above the previous year, which represents an interannual difference of 10.61% with respect the 0.66 euros per kilogram reached in 2012.

Wholesale Prices
Regarding the wholesale average, this reached the 1.082 euros per kilogram. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 1.76€/kg, while the lowest descended to the 0.68€/kg.
The average of 2013 was 0.08€ above the previous year, which represents an interannual difference of 8.2% with respect the 1 euros per kilogram reached in 2012.
The middle value of 2013 is -9.08% under the interannual average of 2009/2023, a difference of -0.11 with respect the 1.19€/kg of the last 15 years.
Retail Prices
Regarding the retail average, this reached the 2.03 euros per kilogram. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 2.42€/kg, while the lowest descended to the 1.76€/kg.
The average of 2013 was 0.1€ above the previous year, which represents an interannual difference of 5.18% with respect the 1.93 euros per kilogram reached in 2012.
The middle value of 2013 is -2.4% under the interannual average of 2009/2023, a difference of -0.05 with respect the 2.08€/kg of the last 15 years.

Price Index Origin-Retail. This is the number of times the price is multiplied from what the producer receives to what the consumer pays (origin and retail)
The averaged retail price of Italian Green Pepper throughout the year 2013 was 2.03€/kg. On the other hand, the average of the prices at origin was 0.73 euros per kilogram. That means, for each euro paid by the final consumers to acquire this product, the farmers received 36 eurocents.
As regards Distribution, the average of the prices collected by Mercasa that year stood at 1.082 euros, so that the second link in the agri-food chain was responsible of 17.3 cents in the construction of that euro paid in the shop to buy peppers.
In last place, during the marketing phase there was added the 46.7 cents remaning of the euro paid by the final buyer. In percentage terms, the difference between the average annual price of italian green pepper in origin and retail was of 178.08%.
The Price Index Origin-Retail for pepper throughout the year 2013 was of (x)2.78. This PIOR indicates the number by which the price is multiplied from the farm to the consumer's table, the difference between what we pay for food in the store and the price the farmer sold it for.
