The origin middle value of Romaine Lettuce along year 2010 reached the 0.384 euros each piece. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 0.72€/pc, while the lowest descended to the 0.18€/pc.

The average of 2010 was 0.15€ above the previous year, which represents an interannual difference of 66.96% with respect the 0.23 euros each piece reached in 2009.

The selected year value is the highest average reached along the entire period 2009/2023, with a difference of 0.1€/pc above the interannual average of 0.28€/pc, that means an increase of 37.14% with respect the arithmetic mean of the last 15 years. Construction of Retail's Average Price of Romaine Lettuce during 2010

The averaged retail price of Romaine Lettuce throughout the year 2010 was 0.92€/pc. On the other hand, the average of the prices at origin was 0.38 euros each piece. That means, for each euro paid by the final consumers to acquire this product, the farmers received 41.6 eurocents.

As regards Distribution, the average of the prices collected by Mercasa that year stood at 0.509 euros, so that the second link in the agri-food chain was responsible of 13.5 cents in the construction of that euro paid in the shop to buy lettuces.

In last place, during the marketing phase there was added the 44.9 cents remaning of the euro paid by the final buyer. In percentage terms, the difference between the average annual price of romaine lettuce in origin and retail was of 140.36%.

The Price Index Origin-Retail for lettuce throughout the year 2010 was of (x)2.4. This PIOR indicates the number by which the price is multiplied from the farm to the consumer's table, the difference between what we pay for food in the store and the price the farmer sold it for.
