The FAO Sugar Price Index of the month of September 2006 reached the 74.8 points, which meant a decline of -10.1% in relation to previous mensual index of August, that was 83.2 points (-8.4 pts), and was placed a -18.15% under the annual average of 91.39 points recorded (-16.59 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 111.1 points was 48.53% higgher than the selected month (+36.3 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 71.6, that is 4.47% lower than the 74.8 points of September 2006 (-3.2 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in September 2006 there was a year-on-year increase of 17.24%, 11 points above the 63.8 pts reached in the same month of 2005.
