The FAO Sugar Price Index of the month of May 2023 reached the 157.2 points, which meant an increase of 5.22% in relation to previous mensual index of April, that was 149.4 points (+7.8 pts), and was placed a 7.7% above the annual average of 145.96 points recorded (+11.24 pts).
The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 162.7 points was 3.5% higgher than the selected month (+5.5 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 116.8, that is 34.59% lower than the 157.2 points of May 2023 (-40.4 pts).
In relation to the values of the previous year, in May 2023 there was a year-on-year increase of 30.56%, 36.8 points above the 120.4 pts reached in the same month of 2022.
