The FAO Sugar Price Index of the month of December 2000 reached the 62 points, which meant an increase of 0.81% in relation to previous mensual index of November, that was 61.5 points (+0.5 pts), and was placed a 22.49% above the annual average of 50.62 points recorded (+11.38 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 66.5 points was 7.26% higgher than the selected month (+4.5 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 31.8, that is 94.97% lower than the 62 points of December 2000 (-30.2 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in December 2000 there was a year-on-year increase of 66.67%, 24.8 points above the 37.2 pts reached in the same month of 1999.
