The FAO Vegetable Oil Price Index of the month of April 2000 reached the 49.5 points, which meant an increase of 3.51% in relation to previous mensual index of March, that was 47.82 points (+1.68 pts), and was placed a 15.4% above the annual average of 42.89 points recorded (+6.61 pts).

The record of this month was the highest value achieved throughout the year, with a difference of 36.06% above the lowest monthly value , that was 36.38 points (-13.12 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in April 2000 there was a year-on-year decline of -23.71%, 15.38 points under the 64.88 pts reached in the same month of 1999.
