The FAO Vegetable Oil Price Index of the month of December 2001 reached the 50.61 points, which meant an increase of 4.85% in relation to previous mensual index of November, that was 48.27 points (+2.34 pts), and was placed a 19.13% above the annual average of 42.48 points recorded (+8.13 pts).

The record of this month was the highest value achieved throughout the year, with a difference of 41.25% above the lowest monthly value , that was 35.83 points (-14.78 pts).
