The FAO Cereal Price Index of the month of September 2002 reached the 63.8 points, which meant an increase of 9.81% in relation to previous mensual index of August, that was 58.1 points (+5.7 pts), and was placed a 14.8% above the annual average of 55.58 points recorded (+8.22 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 64.4 points was 0.94% higgher than the selected month (+0.6 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 49.3, that is 29.41% lower than the 63.8 points of September 2002 (-14.5 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in September 2002 there was a year-on-year increase of 24.61%, 12.6 points above the 51.2 pts reached in the same month of 2001.
