The FAO Cereal Price Index of the month of May 2008 reached the 157.4 points, which meant an decline of -3.26% in relation to previous mensual index of April, that was 162.7 points (-5.3 pts), and was placed a 14.37% above the annual average of 137.63 points recorded (+19.78 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 163.3 points was 3.75% higgher than the selected month (+5.9 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 95.1, that is 65.51% lower than the 157.4 points of May 2008 (-62.3 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in May 2008 there was a year-on-year increase of 81.76%, 70.8 points above the 86.6 pts reached in the same month of 2007.
