The FAO Cereal Price Index of the month of February 1996 reached the 85.7 points, which meant an increase of 2.88% in relation to previous mensual index of January, that was 83.3 points (+2.4 pts), and was placed a 2.45% above the annual average of 83.65 points recorded (+2.05 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 100 points was 16.69% higgher than the selected month (+14.3 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 67.4, that is 27.15% lower than the 85.7 points of February 1996 (-18.3 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in February 1996 there was a year-on-year increase of 37.12%, 23.2 points above the 62.5 pts reached in the same month of 1995.
