The FAO Cereal Price Index of the month of January 2012 reached the 127.2 points, which meant a increase of 2.25% in relation to previous mensual index of December UNDEF(of) 2011, that was 124.4 points (+2.8 pts), and was placed a -7.42% under the annual average of 137.4 points recorded (-10.2 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 148.5 points was 16.75% higgher than the selected month (+21.3 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 125.3, that is 1.52% lower than the 127.2 points of January 2012 (-1.9 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in January 2012 there was a year-on-year decline of -12.22%, 17.7 points under the 144.9 pts reached in the same month of 2011.
