The FAO Meat Price Index of the month of February 1998 reached the 68.3 points, which meant an increase of 1.49% in relation to previous mensual index of January, that was 67.3 points (+1 pts), and was placed a 3.85% above the annual average of 65.77 points recorded (+2.53 pts).

The record of this month was the highest value achieved throughout the year, with a difference of 8.93% above the lowest monthly value , that was 62.7 points (-5.6 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in February 1998 there was a year-on-year decline of -13.21%, 10.4 points under the 78.7 pts reached in the same month of 1997.
