The FAO Food Price Index of the month of July 1999 reached the 52.6 points, which meant a decline of -3.66% in relation to previous mensual index of June, that was 54.6 points (-2 pts), and was placed a -4.67% under the annual average of 55.18 points recorded (-2.57 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 61 points was 15.97% higgher than the selected month (+8.4 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 51.9, that is 1.35% lower than the 52.6 points of July 1999 (-0.7 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in July 1999 there was a year-on-year decline of -18.2%, 11.7 points under the 64.3 pts reached in the same month of 1998.
