The FAO Food Price Index of the month of December 2001 reached the 54.3 points, which meant a decline of -0.73% in relation to previous mensual index of November, that was 54.7 points (-0.4 pts), and was placed a -1.21% under the annual average of 54.97 points recorded (-0.67 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 56.6 points was 4.24% higgher than the selected month (+2.3 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 53.8, that is 0.93% lower than the 54.3 points of December 2001 (-0.5 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in December 2001 there was a year-on-year decline of -0.18%, 0.1 points under the 54.4 pts reached in the same month of 2000.
