The FAO Food Price Index of the month of October 2003 reached the 60.3 points, which meant an increase of 2.73% in relation to previous mensual index of September, that was 58.7 points (+1.6 pts), and was placed a 4.36% above the annual average of 57.78 points recorded (+2.52 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 62.4 points was 3.48% higgher than the selected month (+2.1 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 55.5, that is 8.65% lower than the 60.3 points of October 2003 (-4.8 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in October 2003 there was a year-on-year increase of 9.24%, 5.1 points above the 55.2 pts reached in the same month of 2002.
