Origin Prices
The origin middle value of Albacore along year 2012 reached the 3.523 euros per kilogram. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 6.35€/kg, while the lowest descended to the 1.14€/kg.
The average of 2012 was -1.16€ under the previous year, which represents an interannual difference of -24.72% with respect the 4.68 euros per kilogram reached in 2011.

Wholesale Prices
Regarding the wholesale average, this reached the 6.279 euros per kilogram. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 7.53€/kg, while the lowest descended to the 4.34€/kg.
The average of 2012 was -0.42€ under the previous year, which represents an interannual difference of -6.28% with respect the 6.7 euros per kilogram reached in 2011.
The middle value of 2012 is -4.72% under the interannual average of 2009/2023, a difference of -0.31 with respect the 6.59€/kg of the last 15 years.
Retail Prices
Regarding the retail average, this reached the 9.792 euros per kilogram. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 10.53€/kg, while the lowest descended to the 9.36€/kg.
The average of 2012 was -0.2€ under the previous year, which represents an interannual difference of -1.98% with respect the 9.99 euros per kilogram reached in 2011.
The selected year value is the lowest average reached along the entire period 2009/2023, with a difference of -0.99€/kg under the interannual average of 10.78€/kg, that means a decline of -9.17% with respect the arithmetic mean of the last 15 years.
Evolution of Albacore prices in 2012

Price Index Origin-Retail. This is the number of times the price is multiplied from what the producer receives to what the consumer pays (origin and retail)
The averaged retail price of Albacore throughout the year 2012 was 9.79€/kg. On the other hand, the average of the prices at origin was 3.52 euros per kilogram. That means, for each euro paid by the final consumers to acquire this product, the fishers received 36 eurocents.
As regards Distribution, the average of the prices collected by Mercasa that year stood at 6.279 euros, so that the second link in the agri-food chain was responsible of 28.2 cents in the construction of that euro paid in the shop to buy albacores.
In last place, during the marketing phase there was added the 35.9 cents remaning of the euro paid by the final buyer. In percentage terms, the difference between the average annual price of albacore in origin and retail was of 177.94%.
The Price Index Origin-Retail for albacore throughout the year 2012 was of (x)2.78. This PIOR indicates the number by which the price is multiplied from the fish auction to the consumer's table, the difference between what we pay for food in the store and the price the fisher sold it for.
