The origin middle value of the Agricultural Price Index along year 2011 reached the 0.422 euros. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 0.62€, while the lowest descended to the 0.32€.
The average of 2011 was -0.09€ under the previous year, which represents an interannual difference of -17.25% with respect the 0.51 euros reached in 2010.
The selected year value is the lowest average reached along the entire period 2009/2023, with a difference of -0.09€ under the interannual average of 0.51€, that means a decline of -17.25% with respect the arithmetic mean of the last 15 years. Wholesale Prices
Regarding the wholesale average, this reached the 0.775 euros. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 0.98€, while the lowest descended to the 0.61€.
The average of 2011 was -0.09€ under the previous year, which represents an interannual difference of -10.92% with respect the 0.87 euros reached in 2010.
The selected year value is the lowest average reached along the entire period 2009/2023, with a difference of -0.16€ under the interannual average of 0.94€, that means a decline of -17.55% with respect the arithmetic mean of the last 15 years.
Retail Prices
Regarding the retail average, this reached the 1.581 euros. The highest weekly value achieved throughout the year was 1.69€, while the lowest descended to the 1.51€.
The average of 2011 was -0.07€ under the previous year, which represents an interannual difference of -4.18% with respect the 1.65 euros reached in 2010.
The selected year value is the lowest average reached along the entire period 2009/2023, with a difference of -0.15€ under the interannual average of 1.73€, that means a decline of -8.61% with respect the arithmetic mean of the last 15 years.
Evolution of the Agricultural Price Index in 2011

Price Index Origin-Retail. This is the number of times the price is multiplied from what the producer receives to what the consumer pays (origin and retail)
Throughout the year 2011 averaged retail price of the 15 products collected in the greengrocery zone of the Food Prices Monitor in Spain was 1.58€. On the other hand, the average of the prices at origin was 0.42 euros. That means, for each euro paid by the final consumers to acquire these products, the farmers received little more than a quarter, 26.7 eurocents.
As regards Distribution, the average of the prices collected by Mercasa that year stood at 0.775 euros, so that the second link in the agri-food chain was responsible of 22.3 cents in the construction of that euro paid in the shop.
In last place, during the marketing phase price doubled, 51 cents of each euro paid by the final buyer. In percentage terms, the difference between the average annual price in origin and retail was of 274.64%.
The Price Index Origin-Retail throughout the year 2011 was of (x)3.75. This PIOR indicates the number by which the price is multiplied from the farm to the consumer's table, the difference between what we pay for food in the store and the price the farmer sold it for.
