The FAO Food Price Index of the month of May 2016 reached the 90.6 points, which meant a increase of 1.57% in relation to previous mensual index of April, that was 89.2 points (+1.4 pts), and was placed a -1.44% under the annual average of 91.93 points recorded (-1.33 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 96.1 points was 6.07% higgher than the selected month (+5.5 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 84.9, that is 6.71% lower than the 90.6 points of May 2016 (-5.7 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in May 2016 there was a year-on-year decline of -4.63%, 4.4 points under the 95 pts reached in the same month of 2015.
