The FAO Food Price Index of the month of May 2007 reached the 86.2 points, which meant a increase of 3.11% in relation to previous mensual index of April, that was 83.6 points (+2.6 pts), and was placed a -8.55% under the annual average of 94.26 points recorded (-8.06 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 114.4 points was 32.71% higgher than the selected month (+28.2 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 78.1, that is 10.37% lower than the 86.2 points of May 2007 (-8.1 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in May 2007 there was a year-on-year increase of 21.41%, 15.2 points above the 71 pts reached in the same month of 2006.
