The FAO Food Price Index of the month of May 2005 reached the 66.3 points, which meant a increase of 1.07% in relation to previous mensual index of April, that was 65.6 points (+0.7 pts), and was placed a -1.6% under the annual average of 67.38 points recorded (-1.08 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 69.5 points was 4.83% higgher than the selected month (+3.2 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 65.4, that is 1.38% lower than the 66.3 points of May 2005 (-0.9 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in May 2005 there was a year-on-year decline of -0.15%, 0.1 points under the 66.4 pts reached in the same month of 2004.
