The FAO Food Price Index of the month of April 2008 reached the 130.4 points, which meant an decline of -1.29% in relation to previous mensual index of March, that was 132.1 points (-1.7 pts), and was placed a 10.97% above the annual average of 117.51 points recorded (+12.89 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 132.5 points was 1.61% higgher than the selected month (+2.1 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 86, that is 51.63% lower than the 130.4 points of April 2008 (-44.4 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in April 2008 there was a year-on-year increase of 55.98%, 46.8 points above the 83.6 pts reached in the same month of 2007.
