The FAO Sugar Price Index of the month of September 2003 reached the 37 points, which meant a decline of -12.53% in relation to previous mensual index of August, that was 42.3 points (-5.3 pts), and was placed a -15.64% under the annual average of 43.86 points recorded (-6.86 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 55.7 points was 50.54% higgher than the selected month (+18.7 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 36.9, that is 0.27% lower than the 37 points of September 2003 (-0.1 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in September 2003 there was a year-on-year decline of -14.15%, 6.1 points under the 43.1 pts reached in the same month of 2002.
