The FAO Vegetable Oil Price Index of the month of September 1996 reached the 71.47 points, which meant an increase of 3.43% in relation to previous mensual index of August, that was 69.1 points (+2.37 pts), and was placed a 2.19% above the annual average of 69.94 points recorded (+1.53 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 73.56 points was 2.92% higgher than the selected month (+2.09 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 66.07, that is 8.17% lower than the 71.47 points of September 1996 (-5.4 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in September 1996 there was a year-on-year decline of -6.31%, 4.81 points under the 76.28 pts reached in the same month of 1995.
