The FAO Meat Price Index of the month of May 2006 reached the 68 points, which meant a increase of 2.72% in relation to previous mensual index of April, that was 66.2 points (+1.8 pts), and was placed a -3.57% under the annual average of 70.52 points recorded (-2.52 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 74.8 points was 10% higgher than the selected month (+6.8 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 66.2, that is 2.72% lower than the 68 points of May 2006 (-1.8 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in May 2006 there was a year-on-year decline of -5.29%, 3.8 points under the 71.8 pts reached in the same month of 2005.
