The FAO Cereal Price Index of the month of April 1996 reached the 95.3 points, which meant an increase of 9.67% in relation to previous mensual index of March, that was 86.9 points (+8.4 pts), and was placed a 13.93% above the annual average of 83.65 points recorded (+11.65 pts).

The highest monthly value achieved throughout the year of 100 points was 4.93% higgher than the selected month (+4.7 pts), while the lowest value during the period was 67.4, that is 41.39% lower than the 95.3 points of April 1996 (-27.9 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in April 1996 there was a year-on-year increase of 51.99%, 32.6 points above the 62.7 pts reached in the same month of 1995.
