The FAO Cereal Price Index of the month of December 2003 reached the 65.7 points, which meant an increase of 1.39% in relation to previous mensual index of November, that was 64.8 points (+0.9 pts), and was placed a 10.64% above the annual average of 59.38 points recorded (+6.32 pts).

The record of this month was the highest value achieved throughout the year, with a difference of 16.49% above the lowest monthly value , that was 56.4 points (-9.3 pts).

In relation to the values of the previous year, in December 2003 there was a year-on-year increase of 9.87%, 5.9 points above the 59.8 pts reached in the same month of 2002.
